Local Accessibility

Restaurants, Attractions etc
Following a Customer Experiences survey which we conducted amongst our disabled guests, we have compiled a Local Accessibility Directory - a folder of information about the accessibility of local attractions and amenities.

Each of our accessible cottages has a copy of the Directory and it is kept up to date by our disabled guests. On countless occasions this has proved to be an invaluable aid to a stress-free holiday.

Towns
Hereford and Worcester both have Shopmobility facilities and are wheelchair-friendly cities with excellent shops. Malvern is an interesting town, but remember that much of it is on the side of the Malvern Hills! Bromyard and Ledbury shops are mostly accessible.

Swimming Pools
We are extremely fortunate that both our nearest public swimming pools are accessible:

Ledbury (Tel: 01531 632890) has automatic entrance doors, a hoist, accessible showers, toilets and changing facilities. Ledbury Pool is 10 miles from Hidelow (15-20 minutes drive).

Malvern 'Splash' Pool (Tel: 01684 893423) is well equipped for disabled swimmers. There is wheelchair access into the building and wheelchairs can be wheeled to side of the pool. There is a beach / roll-in area and they will lend you an aqua wheel chair to get into and out of the water; a lifeguard if requested, will help a person swimming alone. The water is a constant 84°F. There are accessible showers, toilets and changing facilities. There is a lift to the upstairs facilities, which include a gymnasium. Groups should give advance notice in they require special facilities.
Malvern Splash Pool is 6 miles from Hidelow (15 minutes drive).

Able Hereford
ABLE is a free, impartial and confidential service of information, advice and, in some cases, practical help. ABLE provides one focal point of contact for the multitude of questions, which can confront a person with a disability.
